“I first used Jason on one or two of the trickier horses on the yard – for breaking in and for behavioural issues. I was really impressed with the way he handles them and the results that he got in a short period of time.” Emily Baldwin, www.emilybaldwineventing.com

Our clients include top international riders, professional trainers and studs with horses from every discpline. We are passionate about giving young performance horses the best start to their ridden career and work with riders and handlers to find the solutions to problems in the competition horse, for example, jump, ditch and water refusals, anxiety at events, schooling issues, napping, bucking, rearing, bridling, handling. We acknowledge that many competition riders and trainers lack the time and cannot afford to get hurt!
“As a three year old Stanley became terrified of being ridden and became the first horse ever to make me nervous. Stanley spent five weeks with Jason and we have not looked back since. I feel like my confidence has been restored and for that I am truly grateful to the whole team.

We also happy to take horses on outings, hunting and low key comeptitions as well as undertaking fitness work, general schooling and injury rehabilitation.
With his father operating a small scale Thoroughbred breeding operation in Australia, Jason learnt the art of starting and pre-training racehorses from an early age, as well as retraining the not-so-quick ones!
Here at Risebridge Farm, Jason handles and starts racehorses in a similar way to other horses, whilst acknowledging the differences in the way they will be ridden and managed in their racing career. With the combination of Jason’s methods and the excellent facilities and care, Jason not only produces horses that are ready to go into training, but even colts and the trickiest of horses turn out easy to handle and to retrain should their career in racing fail.

“I had a horse straight out of racing to compete in Endurance riding but he was difficult with his hind feet and did not tie up, which led to elimination at Vet Checks. After Jason had done his magic we never had any further trouble with this horse, who went on to compete successfully.” Bryony Dickens, Endurance Rider
With little money to spend on ‘made’ horses, Jason’s teenage years were spent retraining their homebred racehorses for showjumping, eventing, polo, polocrosse, campdrafting (working cows) and working horses, with some even going on to win major accolades. Here in the UK, he has found there is a great demand for retraining racehorses and even though not all of them will go on to compete at a high level, Jason believes they all deserve a second career and that with the right rider can go on to lead useful lives.
“Twister came to Jason as an ex-race horse who had been left at grass for 3 years and needed to be retrained as a hacking horse. Jason worked with both Twister and myself giving us the techniques and tools to deal with Twisters quirks. Since coming home he has continued to improve from the foundations that Jason has put in place. We thank Jason and his team for all their help as without them, we would not be where we are today.” *Emma*

Jason is the top rated polocrosse player in the UK, winning Player Awards at the 2010 Quadrangular Series, 2009 Test Matches v South Africa and 2009 Zimbabwe Open. He recently captained the UK World Cup Team. He plays polo on a social level off a 0 handicap, mainly in order to educate his young horses. He has produced polo and polocrosse horses for over 20 years and also breeds horses for these sports.
Risebridge Farm has hosted the successful Kent Target Polocrosse Club since 1997 and boasts two polocrosse pitches. We are 15 minutes from the lovely grounds of Riverdell Farm Polo (formerly Brightling Polo Club) and just 1 ¼ hours from Windsor.
We offer the following services;

“I found the polocrosse group friendly and informal and this, combined with encouraging and expert tuition is a recipe for a fun experience…” Louise Jarvis
“I have worked with horses all my life but never enjoyed it as much as I did working with Jason. My stay was a real learning curve and has changed the way I work with certain horses!” Alex Richardson, recipient UKPA U21 Horsemanship Prize, sponsored by Australian Horsemanship
