About Intelligent Worming

Intelligent Worming was developed in response to the shortcomings of the traditional interval chemical worming program and the more complex parasite control program required to combat internal parasites in equines today.

Every horse has a different natural immune system and therefore each one will cope with the same parasite infection in a different way. Intelligent Worming assesses this and ensures each equine has the correct prescription and quantity of chemical wormers required. It uses diagnostic techniques such as risk assessment procedures, faecal egg counts and expert knowledge to ensure that the reduction of chemical wormers occurs in a safe way.

Horse Parasite

Most owners take a ‘it always happens to someone else’ approach when assessing the likelihood of a serious internal parasitic disease. Many equines have a permanent level of infection and do not show clinical symptoms of worms. However once the worms are identified and removed, without exception, the horse has improved in some way, either consistency if performance of just being less ‘grumpy’.

At least 50% of horses who are on chemical worming programs will have worms. Intelligent Worming consultants speak to owners everyday who are certain their worming program was working until they see the diagnostic evidence that it was only masking a bigger problem.

Use of Intelligent Worming at Australian Horsemanship

At Risebridge Farm, we have started our own horses, including comeptition horses, broodmares and youngstock on the programme with the following aims:
*Eliminate parasitic disease in our horses
*Elimanate parastites from our pasture
*Reduce use of chemical wormers
*Reduce costs of worming programme

We have always operated a very strict worming programme at Risebridge Farm. On our first round of sample testing with Intelligent Worming, two horses that had been on this programme for over two years had a very high worm count. We were astounded that this could have happened and put them straight onto the brand and dosage recommended by Intelligent Worming and are looking forward to the results. If it could happen to these horses, it could be happening to yours… Intelligent Worming has probably saved these horses from developing significant problems through parasite damage.
